Advantages of Crane Rope Drum
Precise wire rope winding
The rope groove design of the crane rope drum ensures that the wire rope is wound neatly and accurately. For example, the spiral rope groove can guide the wire rope to be arranged in a regular spiral shape on the drum to prevent the wire rope from being entangled and knotted.

Same standards and regulations should be applied to the components of crane drum including rope seat radius, tread diameter, and the sheaves.
The depth of the wire rope groove is 1/2 of the wire rope diameter to ensure the steel rope winding into groove orderly to prevent steel rope from unwinding effectively.
The pitch and groove depth should be designed and fabricated properly to lower the possibility of steel wire rope damage caused by abrasion between grooves.The inner wall of wire rope grooves is grounded to reduce the abrasion of steel wire rope.
Types of Crane Rope Drum
Single-layer drum: The single-layer drum is one of the most basic types of crane wire rope drums. As the name suggests, it allows the wire rope to be wound in a single layer around the drum.
Multi-layer drum: In contrast to the single-layer drum, the multi-layer drum allows the wire rope to be wound in multiple layers around the drum. This type of drum is typically used in applications where a greater lifting height is required.
Spiral grooved drum: Spiral grooved drums are designed with a continuous spiral groove on the surface of the drum. This groove helps to guide the wire rope as it is wound and unwound, ensuring a smooth and even distribution of the rope around the drum.
Flanged drum: Flanged drums are equipped with flanges on both ends of the drum. These flanges act as barriers to prevent the wire rope from slipping off the drum during operation.
